The East Mac's Ride
A 1.5 hour ride at walking pace only. Suitable for everyone. Be transported by bus from the Outback Horse Treks yard to the ride location. Ride around the base of some of the most beautiful East MacDonnell Ranges. Enjoy the quiet ambience while learning about some of the local flora and fauna. On your return settle in with a hot/cold drink and platter to share, before hopping back into the bus. Duration in saddle – 1.5 hours. Please allow approx 3 hours for this experience.
The East Mac's Half Day
A 4 hour ride including walking and trotting. Suitable for those with some riding experience who are comfortable trotting outside of an enclosed area. Be transported by bus from the Outback Horse Treks yard to the ride location. Ride along dirt trails and ancient cattle tracks still in use today. Meander through the real Australian Outback before finishing with hot/cold drinks and platter to share, then back in the bus for the return drive. Duration in saddle – 4 hours. Please allow approx 6 hours for this experience.
The East Mac's Full Day
A 6 hour ride suitable for those with good riding experience, who have also ridden recently. This ride is an extension of the East Mac’s Half Day ride. Continue riding past grazing cattle and absorb the feeling of really being away from it all!
Stop for a light lunch and a cool beverage before re-mounting and riding back to Outback Horse Treks. Duration in saddle – 6 hours.
Please allow approx 8 hours for this experience.
Photos will be taken of your time in the saddle at some beautiful view points and the history of the station and family will be shared whilst meandering along the tracks.
On your return and once out of the saddle sit back and enjoy a cold drink and snacks while you enjoy the ambience of the outdoors and compare riding tales before being transported back to your car.
Exact times are dependant on the time of the year. Self drive to Outback Horse Treks. Only 15 minutes / 10 km drive from the Alice Springs town centre.
Inclusions: Light refreshments, water and photos of ride included. Helmets and sun cream provided. Limited boots available for hire.
What to wear: Long pants and shirts with sleeves are required. Enclosed footwear, ideally boots without thick soles.
